LocalCode Kansas City is transforming this historic landmark from a symbol of disinvestment and exclusion into a vibrant community asset.

Affordable, contemporary apartments with essential services will attract Black professionals and their families back to KC's Eastside. The event space, health and wellness services, and cafe will provide a center for the community.

Residential:

• 19 Two Bedroom units
• 28 One Bedroom units
• 14 Studio units
• 61 Total Units

Commercial:

• 7,000 sf Event Space (Auditorium, Great Hall)
• 10,000 sf Health and Wellness Center
• 5,000 sf Retail and Offices
• 8,000 sf Restaurant, Cafe, Commissary Kitchen
• 50,000 sf Parking / Outdoor Event Space

Community members want more Black professionals and their families to live in their neighborhood. With beautiful, contemporary apartments and a cafe, community center, and essential services, The Ladd Project is attracting them back.

The school auditorium and gym will be converted into a community center, along with the outdoor courtyard and cafe: a venue for cultural activities, neighbor significant life events, and local meetings. Local food businesses will be incubated and a vibrant food truck scene created.
