Belleview Townhomes: New Affordable Housing Development Breaks Ground in KC’s Westside

A recent FOX4 article details a groundbreaking ceremony for Belleview Townhomes, a new affordable housing development in Kansas City’s Westside neighborhood. This project, a partnership between the Hispanic Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) and the city of Kansas City, is funded through the city’s affordable housing trust fund. It aims to provide nine two- and three-bedroom townhomes for working families, seniors, and individuals whose housing repair costs are prohibitively high.

Community leaders, including Joe Mendoza of HEDC and residents like Anna and Jerry Roseburrough, emphasized the importance of this development in addressing the lack of affordable housing in the area. This project is the first of its kind in over two decades in the Westside, which has long needed such an initiative. Residents also highlighted the importance of preserving the neighborhood’s character while addressing broader community needs, such as maintenance and development. Construction is expected to be completed by next summer.
